Involvement in ITL GetFund is a journey where, beyond supporting the fundraising, ITL continues to equip and empower Alumni. Essential resources and guidance in communication, marketing, campaign strategy and planning are provided throughout a 5-Step journey, leading to growth and capacity building. A thorough vetting and approval process, ensures the credibility and quality of every initiative, fostering trust between project leaders and donors.Â
The Journey
The 5-Step Journey
The coordinator from the ITL office is working with the alumni on the first three steps over one month (1, 2A, 2B, 3) focusing on setting up the campaign on a strong foundation.
Each campaign then runs for up to 6 months, or until the funding goal is reached—whichever comes first.
Throughout the campaign period:
- We check in regularly to monitor how the strategy is being implemented.
Â
- A mid-campaign evaluation is done after 3 months to assess progress and adjust strategies if needed.
Eligibility
- Only ALICT Alumni are eligible to apply and lead campaigns on the ITLGetfund platform.
- The initiative for which a campaign is created can be run by an organization, but the alumni must be involved with the organisation or the team leading the initiative.
- Applicants must commit to dedicating the necessary time and effort to develop the campaign and execute the planned strategy throughout the 6-month campaign period. The campaign setup phase can take up to 1 month but may be shorter depending on the applicant’s level of engagement and pace of work.
Initiative Requirements:
Initiatives for which a campaign is created must be people-focused and address a need in any sector of society. Current sectors online are: Community project, Counselling, care and trauma, Education, Hunger and extreme poverty, Income generation, Literacy, Orphans & Vulnerable Children, Pastoral Training, Relief and Disasters,Social Reintegration and prison.Â
Other sectors can be added if a project does not fit in any of those but relevant to be put up on the platform.Â
Funding Limit:
Each individual campaign must have a maximum funding goal of $1,000 USD.
If an initiative requires more than $1,000 USD, applicants are advised to break it into phases and submit separate campaigns for each phase.

How the ITL GetFund crowdfunding platform works
ITL hosts a dedicated website for certain ALICT alumni projects in order to receive funding from donors.Â
Alumni are to supply all content, contact details, updates, videos and images to be uploaded – with the help and guidance of the ITL Office team and according to the presented timeline.Â
Once the content has been received and reviewed, adjustments have been made, it will be published online. Once published, a dedicated website page address (URL) will be supplied. This URL can be used anywhere in marketing campaigns, social media or any form of communication worldwide.Â
Larger projects can be broken down into phases.Â
It remains the responsibility of the project leader to get donors. ITL will not be responsible for finding funding or donors. This platform is purely to host your project and accept payments safely and professionaly.Â
Once the predetermined donation target has been met, or if the deadline has been reached, the payment will be done to the project leader via the payment portal pre-selected. If no or very little money has been raised, a discussion with the ITL project team will take place to determine the next steps.Â
A 15% charge fee will be deducted from the final payout amount. This is to cover hosting, bank, admin and service fees.Â
